We’re in the process of building Green New Deal Devon into a bigger organisation. Come and join us at the start of that journey and help shape GND Devon. There are many types of skills we need and roles to fill – take a look at the types of things you could be doing with us!

All roles are at present unremunerated, however, one of our aims is to apply for funding and build this into something exciting, something tangible, something that really makes a difference.

Part of our mission at GND Devon is to expand our tables, providing safe, open spaces for others to come in and compel us to look at tackling the climate crisis in different ways. We particularly welcome applications from people from communities who are often left out of this conversation – people of colour, disabled people, women, neurodiverse people, those from a working class background, people in the LGBTQ+ community, people from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities, among others.

Executive/Board roles

GND Devon is looking to expand, with the aim of becoming a registered company and a funded organisation with paid staff.

To do this, we’re looking for individuals with experience and drive to get a new organisation up and running, and a passion for climate action and social justice. Expertise in grant funding and company governance would be highly valued.

Help build GND Devon

There are lots of exciting things that we want GND Devon to do now and in the future. Below is a (non-exhaustive) list of the kinds of roles and skills we'll need.

Events

Events will be our bread and butter for now – running them, participating in them, facilitating group discussions to get the best out of people. We need people to do any of the above, from being a speaker or facilitator, to seeking out event opportunities, to organising event logistics

Policy research

We want GND Devon to be a space to explore a Green New Deal, look at new concepts and communicate those to different audiences. We also want to research different ways of sparking imaginations and creating that imagination toolbox.

Comms

We’ll be working hard to get our message out there, through social media platforms, our website, blogs, and articles. We’ll also be looking for creative ways to do this (see ‘Creative’ below)

Finance

As we expand and set up as a company, we’ll need expertise to help navigate the world of Companies House, legal structures, and general finance needs. We’ll also be applying for grants and other funds, so will need help writing those bids.

Design

We want to get our message across in physical and online spaces – making our voice heard through well-designed posters and leaflets, and making our website as engaging and accessible as possible.

Creative

Finding creative ways to communicate those future visions that people tell us about, that we create ourselves, will be vital in engaging people. We want to develop multiple and diverse ways of making different representations of what we do through film, sound, art, words and much more.

Networks

We want to reach as many people as possible, particularly those who are generally outside the usual ‘green’ or ‘environmental’ space. This won’t be easy and we’ll need to spend a lot of time making connections and finding ways to involve a diverse range of people.
